Personal Description

Claire Sullivan-Tailyour is passionate about finding beauty and humor in the darker side of life, which manifests itself in the stories she chooses to tell.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Claire moved to England at three years old. She continued to move from place to place, traveling domestically and internationally. She received a BA (1st Class Joint Hons) in English Literature and Media Studies from Sussex University, Brighton in 2004, having spent a year at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, Television on an Allaway Scholarship. Spending a year managing a restaurant, she soaked up story after story and with those, packed her bags and headed back to California for an MFA in Film Production at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts.

In Spring 2007, she was one of only four students to be chosen by USC's Academy Award winning faculty to direct a film the school funded. Silence played at numerous international film festivals including Strasbourg International Film Festival and First Look Film Festival, Los Angeles. During her time at USC, Claire was a scholarship recipient of Women in Film, The Dante Foundation, and The Mary Pickford Student Assistant.

Amongst hundreds applying for a Heineken sponsored music video for Low Stars' Just Around the Corner, Claire won the pitch and directed the large scale music video. The video premiered at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills in December 2007. Articles of interest can be found through Xfm, Billboard and USC.

The success of the music video led Claire to be signed at House of Waterman, a music video production company based in Los Angeles. She is currently looking for fresh up and coming bands to direct videos for.

Claire also directed Impressions, for the Los Angeles Film Collective making a collection of shorts for a feature. This completes production in Summer 2008.

Claire's professional experience includes research assistant for BBC television series Watchdog, directing commercials, editing shorts and music videos. She is currently developing a few feature scripts.
